NAIROBI, Kenya, September 19 – Kenya’s main side at the 2013 Safaricom 7s, Shujaa have been pooled in a relatively easy group after the tournament draw conducted Thursday at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
South African outfit, Western Province, is the only tough side the hosts will face in Pool E in a group they should safely navigate to the quarters since it features Rwanda and local club outfit Mwamba who on paper can be considered lightweight opposition.
Traditionally, Kenya has struggled against teams from South Africa, with Emerging Boks beating them to the crown last year.
The second Kenyan team, Moran, will headline another favourable Pool A alongside Western Bulls, Botswana and Zambia with both host sides in line to contest the Main Cup on Sunday in a dream final for organisers.
This year will crown a new champion since the titleholders did not turn up for the event that commences on Friday.
Australia Renegades are seeded second in Pool B with Uganda, Safaricom Sevens Series winners KCB and Nakuru while Fijian side Samurai will battle it out with Belgium, Kenya Sevens Academy, the third host side and local outfit Impala.
England Royals and Grenoble from France face each other in the same pool with domestic teams Kenya Harlequins and Homeboyz.
