LONDON, England, January 19- Manchester United are weighing up a late transfer window swoop for Celtic midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama.
The Reds have scouted the 21-year-old Kenyan all season with Sir Alex Ferguson’s brother, Martin a frequent visitor to Parkhead.
The Old Trafford boss took a personal look at him last week during Celtic’s SPL home win over Dundee United while he was in Glasgow for the funeral of Celtic legend Sean Fallon, Jock Stein’s former right-hand man.
Arsenal are also keen on the £10m-rated ace, who joined the Scottish giants in 2011 from Belgian side Beerschot for just £900,000.
Tough guy Wanyama is the kind of physical player the Reds are looking for to add to their midfield.
United need muscular additions to midfield and Victor Wanyama has been a crucial part of Neil Lennon’s success at Celtic, scoring a famous header against Barcelona in their Champions League group stage success.
Wanyama has been interesting other Premier League clubs but United could out-bid them, although Celtic would not want to sell before their tie with Juventus in the last-16.
