Harambee Stars head on to CECAFA finals

NAIROBI, Kenya December 6 – Harambee Stars are through the finals of the CECAFA Seniors Challenge Cup after beating Zanzibar Hero’s 4-2 in post-match penalties on Thursday, at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala Uganda.

Stars came twice from behind to end the match 2-2 in regular time to cancel out Zanzibars lead.

Khamis Mcha opened the score sheet at the 20th minute with his team mate Nadir Canavaro scoring an own goal, forced by Mike Baraza at the 28th minute.

Zanzibar’s second goal came through Aggrey Morris from a penalty in the second half with Mike Baraza starring once again for the Stars equalizing for the match to go into extra time.

Mike Baraza, Edwin Lavatsa, Joackins Atudo took Kenya’s penalty with Juma Abdallah scoring the winning penalty for Kenya to end 4-2.

Kenya will now face the winner of the match between Uganda Cranes and Tanzania in the finals on Saturday afternoon at the Namboole stadium.
