NAIROBI, Kenya December 1 – Kenya’s march to the finals of the Emirates Dubai Sevens came to an end on Saturday after losing to New Zealand 27-7 in the main cup semifinals.
Kenya conceded three penalties against New Zealand’s none.
A late consolation try from Collins Injera, converted by Lavin Asego saw Kenya end the game 27-7 the final result.
New Zealand, also eliminated Kenya at the same stage of the Gold Coast Sevens in October would force the Kenyan’s into errors, indeed the statistics at this point showed
New Zealand match to the final against Samoa as Kenya battle for third place against France at 7.01PM.
Yesterday Kenya matched their way into the quarterfinals after sealing two wins out of three in the Pool A fixtures.
They lost their final match of the group to titans Fiji 10-14.
A try and conversion from Joji Baleviani Raqamate gave Fiji a 7-0 by half time lead with Isikeli Tuiwainunu adding Fiji’s second try with Baleviani converting to take a 14-5 lead.
Dennis Ombachi touched down in the final minutes of the match, though the conversion by Lavin Asego missed didi not come through.
Kenya earlier in the day defeated Scotland and Spain respectively.
The Result gave Kenya six points from three matches in their pool.
Earlier Collins Injera and Sidney Ashioya gave Kenya its second win after beating Spain 10-7.
In their opening match of the day they beat Scotland 12-5.
