His local assistant, James Nandwa, who will lead the squad for the regional tourney disclosed Kansas City defender, Lawrence Olum, league champions Tusker FC custodian, Boniface Oluoch and KCB midfield talent Paul Mungai Kiongera will now feature in the Africa Home Nations Championships qualifier against Burundi.
Nandwa named his final travelling playing unit of 20 that flew to Kampala in readiness to face hosts Uganda in the tournament opener on Saturday in the opening match of the regional tourney.
“The players I have will be enough to do well at the tournament and I believe I do not have a week team. It is being said that we are not taking this competition seriously but this is not true,” he added.
Veteran forward, Mike Baraza who was third in the Footballer of the Year category during the annual Tusker Premier League awards on Wednesday night will lead the charge upfront.
He will be assisted by either Gor Mahia’s Edwin Lavatsa or Enock Agwada of Sony Sugar with K’Ogalo’s Rama Salim who is itching to break into the main squad pulling the creative strings in the middle.
Nandwa named Sofapaka’s Anthony Kimani as his captain with Ingwe’s Bernard Mang’oli his assistant.
“We got out early last year and we do not want a repeat because we want to lift the sprits of our people on the pitch,” the coach underscored.
Cranes will be out to skin the Kenyans after they were left red faced by the 0-0 stalemate last November that denied them a ticket to this year’s Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
