NAIROBI, Kenya November 1 – The Kenya Commercial Bank has surrendered back a title deed belonging to football star Dennis Oliech’s mother.
Commercial division judge Joseph Mutava has heard that KCB did so after Mary Auma Oliech went to the bank’s branch at Prestige Plaza and caused mayhem following the decision by the latter to hold the document over a 2 million shillings loan.
Lawyer Phillip Nyachoti who is acting for the bank told the court that “the respondent went to the bank and demanded back the document and the institution had no choice but to give it to her,”.
Auma confronted Nyachoti two weeks ago in court following the bank’s decision to sell her property worth over 40 million shillings to recover the amount she borrowed in 2010.
The case was adjourned to December 3 to enable lawyer Edward Oonge who has come on board on behalf of Oliech’s two siblings to familiarize himself with the case.
Elsie and Kennedy Oliech went to court arguing that the property belongs to the family and will be highly prejudiced if the property is sold by the bank to pay a loan.
