NAIROBI, Kenya, October 18- AFC Leopards striker, Allan Wanga and Gor Mahia sensation, Rama Salim have been left out of the Harambee Stars squad to face South Africa on Tuesday week.
Salim, who has scored ten odd goals for title chasing K’Ogalo and Wanga who smashed in Stars winning goal against Togo in February are among the 13 local based players axed from the team by the Frenchman on Monday as the squad resumed training.
Tusker keeper, Boniface Oluoch and Sofapaka midfielder, Humphrey Mieno are other notable casualties that will not feature against the South Africans as nine foreign based players who will augment the local squad started trickling to the camp.
Western Stima rising prospect, Wesley Korir who recently netted a double against Leopards to derail their title procession did enough to impress Michel to retain him in the team.
According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) media office, team captain and Ligue 2 side, AJ Auxerre striker, Dennis Oliech has already linked up with the squad to lead the foreign legion.
The team has shifted its base from Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani to the Kenya School of Monetary Studies and will train at the match venue Nyayo National Stadium until Wednesday when they will be released.
That is the day FKF has penned as a deadline for the overseas based contingent to link up with the team that lost 2-0 to Bafana in South Africa last year when they last played.
Thus far, Israel based Patrick Osiako who has been drafted in for injured Inter Milan midfielder, MacDonald Mariga, is the only alteration among the nine called in for the match who ply their trade outside the country.
Jacktone Odhiambo and Duncan Ochieng (keepers), Solomon Nasio, George Owino and Leonard Mosoti (defenders) John Nairuka and Bob Mugalia (midfield), Mike Baraza and Wycliffe Ochomo have also been sidelined from the initial squad of 28 domestic based players.
Norway based keeper Arnold Origi, Christian Bwammy, Ayub Timbe, Patrick Oboya, Brain Mandela and Jerry Santos are the other foreign based players invited for the Bafana tie.
The team will be training at the match venue, Nyayo National Stadium until Wednesday when the players will be released to join their teams.
