Naggi banned in FKF suspension fever

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 17- The suspension fever at Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has claimed the third high profile victim in a fortnight after Patrick Naggi was banned by Chairman Sam Nyamweya on Tuesday.

“Football Kenya Federation has with immediate effect suspended Naggi the Federations’ Technical Director and Education Officer for the alleged theft of 100 match balls sent by CAF in February this year meant for use of our National Teams,” the letter signed by the federation boss stated.

“The balls never reached the secretariat, this is a serious issue and the Federation has launched investigations with the police to unearth this theft.

“This is part of the federations move to guard against misappropriation of equipment and other assets that are meant for the development of the game,” Nyamweya charged adding it was a move seeking to uphold ‘the policy of Zero tolerance to any form of malpractice by anyone associated with the federation.’

The federation also sent to newsrooms a delivery note from Freight In Time Company limited dated February 24 that alleges Naggi signed for the delivery of a consignment sent to the federation by Power Airfreight that consisted of nine packages weighing 267kg but it does not state whether they contained balls.

Nyamweya suspended his vice-chairman, Sammy Sholei and Nairobi official Dan Shikanda a fortnight ago when they sued the federation in a bid to stop a Special General Meeting that was due to ratify its new constitution.

A short while later, world governing body Fifa ratified the suspensions.

Earlier this month, Naggi was demoted from his Technical Director role following national team Harambee Stars elimination from the 2013 Nations Cup and named the Executive Officer.
