NAIROBI, Kenya, June 2- Football Kenya Federation (FKF) boss, Sam Nyamweya has immediately suspended his deputy Sammy Sholei and Nairobi branch chairman, Dan Shikanda from their positions and any football related activities.
The decision to sanction the pair was arrived at an emergency National Executive Committee meeting held on Monday morning at a Nairobi hotel as the infighting in the governing body reached a crescendo.
Sholei and Shikanda are accused of contravening world body FIFA and federation statutes by moving to Nairobi’s Milimani Commercial Court on June 29 to file a case challenging the passing of the new FKF constitution and seeking to stop the Special General Meeting (SGM) to adopt it.
“The implications of the said court case and the orders thereto are serious and grave violations of both the FIFA and Football Kenya Federation Statutes.
“The vice chairman Sholei and the Nairobi branch chairman Shikanda are hereby suspended indefinitely with immediate effect from all football related activities and their respective positions held in the Federation,” a communiqué signed by Nyamweya stated.
“Robert Asembo the Nairobi NEC Representative has been mandated to serve in an acting capacity as the Vice Chairman FKF and Michael Ouma, the vice chairman FKF Nairobi branch is henceforth mandated to act as the Nairobi Branch Chairman,” Nyamweya added.
Last week, Sholei, who has been at loggerheads with his boss over a number of issues moved to court to challenge the adoption of the constitution at a retreat in Malindi attended by among others, FIFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi.
