LONDON, England, November 17- Triple world champion Vivian Cheruiyot has withdrawn from Saturday’s Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham due to illness.
The outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m world champion had been scheduled to run the 3,000m at the National Indoor Arena.
“Just before I began my journey to the UK, I developed flu and do not feel well enough to travel,” she told the BBC.
“I need a few days off to recover so I can resume training as soon as possible in this important year,” she added.
Cheruiyot, who also took the World Cross Country title in her dream 2011, was named Laureus’ Sportswoman of the Year and is hotly tipped to pick up at least one Olympic title this summer’s Olympic Games.
Her main rivals from Ethiopia were scheduled to be Gelete Burka, in-shape Genzebe Dibaba, Sentayehu Ejigu and Meselech Melkamu.
