NAIROBI, Kenya, May 8, 2011- Rampant Kabarnet recovered from an opening game loss to thrash hapless Ebenezer 7-0 in the pick of week seven Copa Coca-Cola action across various counties.
Sacho inflicted a 1-0 loss to Kabarnet in their opening Baringo County showdown before the losers went on a scoring spree in their second match as Ebenezer tasted the full wrath of their diasapointment.
Sacho continued their winning form with a 3-1 win over Oinobmoi while Margat edged out Ayebo 2-1 as the former were joined by the Kabarnet in the quarters.
In the girls’ category, Pemwai beat Ossen Secondary 3-1 but their joy was short lived when they lost to Marigat 1-0 in their next fixture where the winners and Ossen moved on to the provincials.
Terige Boys were the big winners in Nandi County with an emphatic 4-0 win over Samoei Boys which they followed up with a 3-0 thrashing of Banja.
Banja responded with a 2-0 victory over Muslim Young Stars while Kapsabet Boys secured two victories with 3-0 and 1-0 wins over Komobo Junior and Cheptil Boys respectively.
Komobo bounced back from their loss to share the spoils with Kaptel Boys in a one all draw.
In the girls’ category, Kosirai Girls lost 2-1 to their counterparts from Itigo, but managed to restore some pride in their campaign with a 1-0 win over Banja.
A thunderous strike from Felix Lemei helped Kabingut Boys edge out Bomet Youth 1-0 at Silibwet Grounds, Bomet on Saturday.
Kabingut’s unrelenting pressure paid off quarter of an hour into the match when Lemei’s 20 metre shot beat the Bomet goalkeeper.
It was all one way traffic in the second match of the day as Seanin Soccer Centre beat Kongasis Youth 2-0 where the victors impressed the sizeable crowd with precise passing.
Kipngeno Korir put Seanin 1-0 up with barely ten minutes on the clock after collecting a through pass in the penalty area and slotting the ball past the Kongasis goalie.
Seanin dominated the rest of the encounter and had to contend with a brief onslaught from Kongasis at the beginning of the second half.
Hillary Chepkwony consolidated Seanin’s victory in the final minute of this pulsating encounter by grabbing the second goal from a rebound after the Kongasis keeper failed to deal with a harmless shot.
In Laikipia, Nyahururu Boys beat Gilester 3-0. Gilester were then held 2-2 by Nyota Ndogo who in turn went down 1-0 to Nyahururu in their second match.
