NEW YORK, February 24 – Carmelo Anthony made the most of his debut in New York, finishing with 27 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday as the Knicks beat the Milwaukee Bucks 114-108.
Anthony, wearing No. 7, made only 10 of 25 shots but was most effective in the closing minutes. He nailed a pair of clutch baskets, helping New York hold on after teammate Amare Stoudemire fouled out at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks’ other new addition Chauncey Billups finished with 21 points and eight assists as New York won their third-consecutive game.
Billups and Anthony were playing their first game with the Knicks after Tuesday’s 13-player, three-team blockbuster trade with the Denver Nuggets. Garden fans serenaded Anthony with chants of "Melo, Melo" late in the game and Anthony shot a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line.
Toney Douglas scored 23 points and Stoudemire had 19 in the win.
John Salmons scored 27 points and Aussie Andrew Bogut added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
