Ngong racecourse set for police national cross country

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 14- Commonwealth steeplechase champion Richard Mateelong and former Rotterdam Half marathon champion Sammy Kitwara are the draw cards for Saturday’s Kenya Police Cross country Championships.Others are Linet Maasai, the winner of the 2009 IAAF World Championships, Berlin, Germany in the 10,000 metres race, Grace Momanyi, bronze medalist, 2008 African Championships in the 5,000 meters race and Sylvia Kibet, the silver medalist in the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany.

The championship that will take place at the Ngong racecourse will used to select a team that will represent the Kenya Police during the National Cross Country Athletics Championship which is scheduled to take place on February 19.

The Kenya Police are the defending champions of the National Cross Country Championship in both men and women category having won the titles last year.
