'Blackberry' signs four year deal

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 6- Gor Mahia striker George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo has secured a four and a half year deal at Danish club Randers FC.

Last year’s Kenya Premier League (KPL) Player of the Year on Thursday signed the agreement with the club that will run until the summer of 2015.

“I am extremely proud, pleased and grateful to join Randers FC. It is also the beginning of an exiting adventure with and for the people and the football club of Randers,” said Odhiambo.

“I’ve just turned 18, and fulfilling my childhood dream by joining a good club in a competitive European League is the best present for me,” he added.

Randers FCs managing director Jacob Nielsen was equally delighted with Odhaimbo’s move to central Denmark.

“During the last six months we have been keeping an eye on George Odhiambo at both club and international level, and we noted his great potential as a striker. He is only 18 and has still at lot to learn, but he will be interesting to follow alongside our other strikers,” said Nielsen.

“Even though he is a regular in the Kenyan international 11, he will have to fight hard to gain a regular place in our line up in the Superleague-team,” he added.

Odhiambo has scored 18 goals in 46 matches for ‘Kogallo’ for whom he made his debut in 2009.
