NAIROBI, Kenya, December 6- After months in the cold, Capital FM’s Robin Njogu romped home with the 11th Airtel media title in a hotly contested round at the Golf Park on Saturday.
Robin hauled a sensational first nine that included six bogeys and followed it up with 53 stokes on back nine to triumph with 105 gross points played on medal format.
It was a good spicing and break to an event that had been dominated by the likes of Kimaru Kipchillat (PPS), Tony Timase (Citizen TV), Charles Kerich (The Stars) and Idris Situma (Nation Television).Robin edged out Kipchillat Kimaru to second place with total of 106 strokes.
Timase, winner of July and August rounds, settled third with 109 as another Business Daily player, Steve Mbogo came in fourth with 112.
“It feels good to win after having to settle for less in the last five months ,” said Robin. “There was no short cut to my performance only hard work and more practice. My tee shots and fairway play were connecting really well .”
Josephine Ngumba (People) shot a magnificent 109 to claim ladies victory, beating the previous winner Lynet Otieno from the Standard.
Idris Situma from the Nation won the mens longest drive while the last series winner, JB Mwangi from KTN won the nearest to the pin prize.Tony Timase settled for for first nine title while Steve Mbogo from the nation took the second nine award.
As Robin claimed his prize, the focus is also on Timase, who now sits comfortably at the top of his Series with 69 points despite finishing third.
It will need something special from the rest of the pack that is chasing him in the last round. Winner of the previous leg, Kipchillat follows Timase with 58 points.
The Grand finale will be held at the same venue on 18th December where the scribed will face off to claim the top spot.
