NAIROBI, Kenya, November 18- Harambee Stars coach Jacob Mulee is targeting at least a semi final place at the upcoming Tusker CECAFA Cup.Mulee said on Thursday that the team has enough time to prepare for Africa’s oldest tournament starting with a warm up friendly against hosts Tanzania in Dar-e-Salaam.
“We have four days of preparation before we play Tanzania. After that we will be still be there (Dar) for a week before the start of the championship,” said Mulee.
Stars will open their account next Monday against Malawi, take on Ethiopia December 2 and then finish off their group assignments against defending champions Uganda on December 5.
Uganda has been Kenya’s bogey team of late but Mulee is not dwelling on history and is keen on accumulating points in the group stages.
“I’m thinking about all the games because they all have three points on offer. Uganda of course came here and spoilt the party for us, they also beat us two years back and alos eliminated us at the quarter finals the year before,” said Mulee.
“We are playing three teams who will give the utmost respect that they deserve and we’ll go there chasing six points in order to get into the second round,” he added.
“Our main aim is to restore pride in the team and in the country as well,” said captain Stephen Ocholla.
“The league (KPL) this season has been very exciting so expectations are high from Kenyans, and we don’t want to disappoint them,” he added.
Recent call up Brian Masiolo is delighted at his national call up and is relishing the possibility of leading Kenya’s attack in Dar.
“It’s a privilege to be in the national team. I have big shoes and I’m going to work hard to show that I belong here,” said Masiolo.
