NAIROBI, Kenya, October 12- The Dasani Golf Gala’s Grand Finale has been moved from October 22 to October 23.
Speaking from the Coca-Cola offices, Coca-Cola Country Manager, Kenya, Peter Njonjo, said that due to requests from some of the qualifiers, the Finale had been moved from Friday to Saturday.
“We have received several requests from the qualifiers, especially those from our Nyanza and Coast territories to stage the Finale on Saturday and with the cooperation of the host club, Muthaiga, we are now announcing that the Grand Finale of the Dasani Golf Gala will be held on Saturday the 23rd of October 2010 at the Muthaiga Golf Club,” said Njonjo.
“The Finale will be a whole day affair with qualifiers and guests teeing off in the morning and in the afternoon,” he added.
The Grand Finale will include five teams of four golfers each from Muthaiga, Sigona and Karen, four teams each from Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Limuru Country Club and the cluster of Coast based golf clubs.
“The clubs under the Coastal Bottlers included Malindi, Mombasa, Leisure, Vipingo and Nyali and they will send 16 golfers to the Finale,” said Njonjo.
“From the Mt. Kenya Bottlers territory we had Nyeri, Nyahururu and Nanyuki and they will send in one team as will the Kisii Bottlers who staged their qualifier at the Kisii Golf Club. From the Equator Bottlers territory we had golfers from Nyanza, Kakamega, Mumias and Kericho and they will be sending two teams to the Finale whilst the Rift Valley Bottlers will send another two teams from the cluster that included Kitale, Nandi Bears and Eldoret Club.”
The Kenya Railway Golf Club, Thika Sports Club and Vet Lab Sports Club will send three teams each to the Finale whilst the Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club and Kiambu Club will send in two teams as will the Njoro/Nakuru/Naivasha and Machakos/Golf Park/KAF clusters.
In total, 196 qualifiers will meet at Muthaiga Golf Club on the 23rd of October to compete for the top prize, a fully paid golf trip for the winning team to participate in the Coca-Cola Championship and the Gary Player Invitational from the 16th to 21st of November 2010 at the Fancourt Golf Resort in George, South Africa.
The Coca-Cola Championship and the Gary Player Invitational are both hosted by the legendary Gary Player, a winner of nine majors on the regular tour as well as a winner of nine majors on the Senior Tour.
