LOS ANGELES, September 24- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum will likely miss the NBA pre-season as he continues to rehabilitate his surgically repaired right knee.Lakers spokesman John Black said Thursday that Bynum won’t take part in basketball activities at the start of training camp.
Bynum will be involved in team meetings and film study, but will concentrate on his recovery from arthroscopic surgery he had in late July.
Bynum put off the operation to participate in the Lakers’ run to their second straight NBA title.
He averaged 8.6 points and 6.9 rebounds while starting all 23 playoff games. He then travelled to South Africa for the World Cup, postponing the procedure for several more weeks.
The Lakers open training camp on Saturday.
