NAIROBI, Kenya, September 9- The Dasani Golf Gala heads to the slopes of Mt. Kenya for what is the 12th event on the Gala this Saturday.
The Nyeri Club, home to the famous Kerio Valley hole, the par five sixth hole that enjoys magnificent views of Mt. Kenya, will play host to members from Nanyuki Sports Club, Nyahururu Golf Club, hosts Nyeri Club and guests from the host bottler, Mt. Kenya Bottlers.
Speaking from Nyeri, the Mt. Kenya Bottlers CEO, Joyce Macharia said golfers would be treated to a real “Gala” at Nyeri.
“As the host bottlers it is our humble duty to invite golfers from our territory and to ensure we create a great golf and fun atmosphere,” Macharia said.
“This gala gives us a good opportunity to thank our loyal supporters and sample Dasani water focusing clearly on the importance of hydration for top golf and other sports performances.”
In addition to action on the golf course, non-golfers will be treated to golf lessons from professional golfers at what is now popularly known as the Dasani Cool Zone.
“You will find many of our staff and guests at the Dasani Cool Zone, enjoying golf lessons,” Macharia added.
“Golf can be an intimidating sport to those unfamiliar with its many rules and etiquette procedures, the Dasani Cool Zone however makes it easy to learn the sport in a relaxed and easy way.”
Action on the nine-hole golf course at the Nyeri Club will tee off from 7.30am and the last teams will tee off just before 2pm.
According to the Nyeri Club Captain, over 100 golfers are expected to participate, making this one of the largest golf events at the club in recent times.
They include 16 golfers from Nyahururu Golf Club and 34 golfers from Nanyuki. Guests from Coca-Cola East and Central Africa office as well as guests from Mt. Kenya Bottlers will also participate in the day long Gala.
The top team from Nyeri will book an automatic berth in the Dasani Golf Gala Grand Finale that will be held at the Muthaiga Golf Club on the 22nd of October 2010.
The ultimate prize in the Gala is a fully paid trip for four golfers to the Gary Player Invitational to be held in Fancourt Golf Resort, George, South Africa in November.
