JOHANNESBURG, August 17- Struggling South Africa suffered another injury blow Monday when fullback Zane Kirchner withdrew injured from the squad preparing to face New Zealand in the Tri-Nations championship.
Francois Steyn from Paris club Racing Metro, who was in line to replace Kirchner for the August 21 Soccer City Test, pulled out last week with a thigh injury.
Kirchner damaged his knee playing in a Currie Cup match last Saturday and Springbok medical staff declared him unfit after a scan, making utility back Gio Aplon favourite to wear the No 15 jersey.
Title holders South Africa lost twice to New Zealand and once to Australia on the away leg of the southern hemisphere championship while New Zealand have won all four games and need one point from two fixtures to seal first place.
