Platini taken to hospital

JOHANNESBURG, July 10 – French football legend Michel Platini was taken to a Johannesburg hospital on Friday suffering from exhaustion, an adviser said."He was tired and over-worked. He also has the flu," said close aide William Gaillard. "I have telephoned his secretary who tells me that he is fine."

Platini, 55, president of European football’s governing body UEFA, complained of feeling unwell while having dinner at a Johannesburg restaurant.

He will remain in hospital overnight under observation.
