It was a handball – Fabiano

JOHANNESBURG, June 21 – Luis Fabiano admitted he had handled the ball – not once but twice – for his second goal in Brazil's 3-1 World Cup win over the Ivory Coast which took the five-time champions into the last 16.The Sevilla striker’s second strike on 52 minutes saw him beat three defenders with three touches, but the first appeared to be with his hand and the second with his shoulder.

The man-of-the-match admitted handling the ball, but argued that the element of doubt just made his goal more beautiful.

"Well, that is true, it seems as though the ball hit my hand and the second time it hit my shoulder," he said. "But to make the goal more beautiful there needed to be a bit of doubt."

After scoring his first goal, Luis Fabiano celebrated by showing six fingers in honour of his daughter’s sixth birthday
