MADRID, April 8 – Real Madrid midfielder and vice-captain Jose Maria Gutierrez, better known as 'Guti', said Thursday he wanted to leave the Spanish giants for a move to England, Italy or the Middle East.
"My future is unsure. It will surely be my last El Classico (Saturday against Barcelona). As it stands there is no possibility of staying. I have a year left (contract) but we hope to reach an agreement," Guti told Onda Madrid radio.
"I’m sure they understand, my only option is to leave," said Guti, who sees himself as playing for two more years, and would consider a move next season to "England, Italy or the Arab countries".
Guti, 33, has been out-of-favour at Real for several seasons but remains an influential figure in the team.
He started his career at Real in December 1995, winning five La Liga, three Champions League and two Intercontinental Cup titles, as well as 13 caps with the Spanish national side.
