NAIROBI, Kenya, March 20 – The performances of Sher Karuturi and Mathare United will be the focus of this weekend’s Kenya Premier League which resumes after a break.
Sher Karuturi who face Gor Mahia on Sunday will be without five players including international goalkeeper who has been banned for five games for allegedly faking an injury when his team played Ulinzi on March 8.
Collins Komu, Daniel Odhiambo, Amon Muchiri, Nicholas Muyoti and Geoffrey Okoth are the other players who will be missing from the Sher roster against ‘Kogalo’ who hope to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Western Stima.
Veteran tactician James Sian’ga will make his return on Gor’s technical bench for the match which will be live on Supersport.
Sian’ga was serving a two match ban for harassing match officials during their opening league game of the season against Ulinzi.
Mathare, who controversially withdrew four of their players from the Harambee Stars camp on Wednesday head to Mombasa to play Bandari.
Mathare coach Francis Kimanzi had argued that having his players available on Thursday would not give them enough time to train with the rest of his team which is currently fourth in the league table.
Bandari have had two consecutive one all draws against AFC Leopards and Nairobi City Stars and will hoping to break that trend by beating an unsettled Mathare side.
Bottom side AFC Leopards play fellow strugglers Agrochemicals at Coca Cola stadium which will also be live on Supersport.
Leopards interim coach Evans Manoah has to find a way to plug his team’s defence which has conceded the most goals (nine) so far.
More importantly, he has to come up with the legendary club’s first win of the season which has seen them lose three matches and earn two draws leaving them bottom of the table.
Table toppers Thika United travel to Naivasha to face Ulinzi at Oserian. Thika are the best marksmen in the league so far with seven goals and should have no trouble dispatching Ulinzi.
In other matches, Sofapaka hope to continue their impressive form with a win over Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) at Coca Cola Stadium, Chemelil Sugar play Tusker and Nairobi City Stars take on Red Berets.
