NAIROBI, Kenya, February 16 – Sher Karuturi’s 2-0 win over Sony Sugar on Saturday has catapulted them to the top of the Kenya Premier League standings.The flowermen are level on points with Red Berets and Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) who are second and third respectively and have four points after two matches.
Sofapaka are perched in fifth place after getting their league campaign off to the best possible start with a 2-0 win over Ulinzi Stars at the Coca-Cola stadium.
Ulinzi’s loss sees them drop five places to ninth while Sofapaka will be hoping to boosts themselves further up the table when they play Tusker FC on Wednesday.
AFC Leopards dropped to one place off the bottom after suffering a 2-0 loss to Western Stima at Bukhungu stadium.
It has not being a perfect outing for ‘Ingwe’ so far after their first match against Nairobi City Stars a fortnight ago was abandoned due to crowd trouble with Leopards a goal down at the time.
Stima’s first win of the season win saw them move up to sixth place.
Chemelil’s 2-0 loss to Bandari sees them drop to eight place a spot behind the Mombasa based club who were bottom last week.
Agrochemicals have slid to tenth after a barren draw with KCB and their second tie in succession.
Mathare United and Gor Mahia were in continental action last weekend and are 11th and 14th respectively and will resume their campaign against City Stars and Thika respectively while Sofapaka will play Tusker FC at a yet to be announced venue.
