Bamboo vs Octopizzo beef?… Yaaawnnn

Bamboo-vs-OctopizzoOn Thursday the 13th of June, an article dubbed African MC’s: In a league of their own was released with a list of Africa’s top rappers, and as would have been anyone’s guess, STL a.k.a Stella Mwangi effortlessly made it to the list. What shocked me and I’m sure 99% of other Kenyans was when I spotted Bamboo a.k.a “The African Bantu” somewhere in the list.

So a couple of tweets later from guys sharing this article especially from the obviously surprised Bamboo, beef’s finally blown up between him and our very own boy from “Kibich” Octopizzo – Number Nane.

Reading through the tweets, it’s hard not to take sides because all I see is Bamboo throwing the first punch trying to trash talk Octo by using another Kenyan MC to put his weak point across. What I’m sure must be a blow to him is the replies he’s getting from the rest of Kenyans who are all up in support for Octo by bluntly telling Bamboo that Number Nane’s the best Kenyan rapper today!

Let me air my two cents about this whole beef. I personally chose to reserve my opinion about Octopizzo’s skills, but I have to acknowledge the fact that he’s managed to be Kenya’s current most sought-after rapper, meaning he’s obviously doing something right. So Bamboo should remain mute like he’s been for a decade now when he and the likes of Kalamashaka lost our attention. This is an industry dominated by MC’s with thrice the talent and creativity that he failed to achieve back then when he flooded our airwaves with nursery rhymes.

After keenly going through that list of the Africa’s top MC’s and playing their videos one by one, I came across a jam called Let It Go by a Nigerian rapper called Modenine. I reckon this should be Bamboo’s ideal exit song.
