A man has sold his wife’s wedding ring for $10 instead of $23,000 after carrying out a garage sale whilst she was in hospital recuperating from giving birth.
Eric Cloutier took part in a community garage sale while his spouse, Rachquel, was in hospital recuperating after giving birth to their fifth child.
She placed her beloved jewel in a plain white watch box to keep it safe whilst she was away, but Eric later accidentally sold to a passerby.
After realising the diamond ring was missing, Rachquel told ABC news: “I go into my husband’s closet, can’t find the box, and then he tells me he sold it. I said, ‘You sold it? What do you mean you sold it?’ I immediately started crying.”
Rachquel is hoping the lady that bought her expensive band will return it.
She said: “I would never, ever keep the ring if I had found it.
“If you’re honest, you’re honest. Clearly, the ring was in the box by accident.”
