Raila wants Kenyans to vet his opponents

The Premier warned the citizens on Sunday when he joined faithful for a Sunday mass at the Jesus Is Alive Ministry/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 3 – Prime Minister Raila Odinga wants Kenyans to vet those aspiring for leadership positions by their deeds and not the public pledges they make.

He cautioned Kenyans to be wary of some political hypocrites whose campaign statements were not in tune with their actions.

The Premier made the remarks on Sunday when he attended Sunday mass at the Jesus Is Alive Ministry (JIAM) in Nairobi.

He told the congregation that most of those outspoken about the unity of the nation were actively involved in the formation of tribal groupings for political expediency.

“When they speak of unity of Kenyans they regroup to revive the GEMA meeting in Limuru while their colleagues retreat to Eldoret for the rebirth of the KAMATUSA,” Odinga said.

He asked Kenyans to judge leaders according to what they stood for to ensure that they entrusted the leadership of the country to those who believed in the reforms Kenyans were craving for.

The Premier who accompanied by his wife Ida Odinga challenged those insinuating that he was too old for the presidency to prove that they were better.

He regretted that such arguments were misplaced as some of the so called youthful contenders always ran out of fresh ideas that could help improve the living standards of Kenyans.

“I am 20 years younger than when Mandela took leadership and yet I represent the ideas of the young and progressive Kenyans,” The Premier said.

Assistant Minister Bishop Margaret Wanjiru presided over the service which was also attended by MPs Elizabeth Ongoro and Millie Odhiambo.

If Raila wants his opponents vetted, he should be vetted as well because he is a presidential candidate. I am sure the part where he confessed to participating in the 1982 coup attempt will make for interesting discussion …

Attempted by junior luo airforce officers and financed by luo fellow greedy for power? Can a village item be called liberation? Retired president Moi is more a reformer than the thieves wearing fake reform stickers. At least, he handed over power with effeciency of a driver of a giant crane. He never faked anything, but did what he thought was best for his motherland. He never wallowed neck-deep on the blood of innocent Kenyans! Those who threw challenge to him were only stunned to screaming, after he always embraced their challenge with ruthlessness that they hardly expected! And if those inciting challenges are what is being presented as reform agenda or even fight for us, then I have no idea what reform is all about.

What amazes me is that G7 presidential candidates manifesto is to fight Agwambo. They want Kenyas to believe that if they defeat Agwambo, the price of fuel will come down, jobs will be in plenty, education and health care will be free etc. This is the greatest fallacy of our time. so your election promise to the electorate is that you will prevent Agwambo from ascending to power..thats your rallying call??? Kenyans are not stupid and are clear about the challenges confronting the nation and certainly Agwambo is not on the priority list?  G7 expects us to vote for a team of presidents. where does accountability reside? im struggling with pinpointing what their plan for Kenya is. whats their ideology? The reason why they cannot promise any change is because they are already holding very senior positions in government and any attempt to hoodwink kenyans that they will do A,B,C when elected will be rebutted by….why arent you doing it now since you are in govevrnment? we are now changing bills that were meant to ensure we have people of integrity running the country in order to protect 4 icc individuals …so disheartening! Let us protect the new constitution by all means and hence elect leaders who will uphold the law irrespective of tribe, gender or “likemindedness”. We do not need any more name calling and shallow speeches from politicians. rather what we need from each candidate is simply their cv and what value they will add to the great nation Kenya if they are elected.

G7 or whatever GS out their is a doomed coordinated plan by central figures to stop Raila from ascending to power. This step clearly portrays how wicked and angry some individuals are against Raila but the real meaning is tribalism which is being played here. Mudavadi, Ruto, and all non central people like Kwahale should learn and apply wisdom that they are being manipulated by UK and others to prevent Agwambo. UK has no agendas for Kenya but bitterness against Raila. Other non central leaders should not be fooled to follow UK just because he has money and enslave them without their wish. Eugene Wamalwa has realized that G7 is a plan to block Raila and not to serve Kenyans. It is useless for degreed legislatures to be pocketed by UK and fail to use their brains. We love UK and forgave him but leaders should desist following him blindly. Raila will prevail and the devil will loose bitterly!

PM Raila hardly says anything that doesnt reflect badly on himself! Actually thats why he calls people his own names! While we should vet all presidential candidates, Raila seems to exclude himself for very obvious reasons. In a fair and transparent vetting, he can hardly fit the bill. First, he has treason charges that were never dispensed with on his neck. Infact, retired president Moi might have broken the law by substituting well founded treason charges with detention. And not only that, Raila’s several unpatriotic pronouncements that actually border on treason, can hardly afford him any chance at all. His decision to plunge the country in to chaos in 2007/8 by faking election theft, and subsequent refusal to recognize our lawfully established courts, is also very close to treason. That he is not one of the ICC suspects not withstanding. All Kenyans know where the problem came from and who was behind it all. This is one thing that cant be wished away. Its also noteworthy that Raila has opportunistically declared his support for an illegical secessionist organization in the name of MRC. He is on record ordering Somali refugees to enter our country unconditionally. That marked the beginning of al-shaabab activities in our land. Of course, the very act of allowing parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and real al-shaababs disguised, in to country borders on treason. Raila’s making of our undisputed islands in Lake Victoria to disputed islands can not be overlooked. Am sure PM doesnt expect us to vet people for minor incidents that we can do with. He must understand that vetting will cover everything including anti-nation stances.
