Two Kitui County officials arrested over ‘voter bribery’

KITUI, Kenya, Aug 8 – Two people were beaten senseless by angry Kitui voters after they were allegedly caught bribing voters at Yumbisye polling station.

The two are Kitui County officials and were caught with Sh31,980.

Officers from Kitui Police Station arrested the two who are allied to Governor Julius Malombe.

Kitui CID Police Chief Stephen Birgn confirmed the arrests.

Another county official was also nursing injuries after he was attacked by voters who associated with him voter bribery.

He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kitui County.

Meanwhile, NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka has said he is impressed with the way a lot of Kenyans have turned out to vote.

Speaking in Mwingi, Musyoka urged Kenyans to remain united and peaceful in this historic day as they exercise their democratic right.

” If you don’t deliver justice, you clearly can’t expect peace,” said Musyoka.

Additional, he asked IEBC to deliver a just outcome in the ongoing General Election.

He spoke after casting his vote at Tseikuru Primary in Mwingi.
