Two foreigners found dead, dumped by roadside in Kisauni, Mombasa

Police are yet to establish their nationalities/FILE

MOMBASA, Kenya, Aug 20 – Police on Sunday launched investigations into the murder of two foreigners in Mombasa.

Mombasa police boss Christopher Rotich said the two believed to be a couple, were brutally murdered and dumped by the roadside by unknown people.

Rotich said they were tortured and butchered. “We have launched an investigation to establish the motive of the attackers. It appears they were murdered elsewhere and dumped here,” said Rotich.

He said detectives recovered two mobile phones from the two.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Rotich said a special unit of officers from Directorate of Criminal Investigations has taken over the case.

“We are yet to establish their nationality but preliminary investigations indicate they were killed elsewhere and later dumped here.” said Rotich. The man was slaughtered with a sharp object while the female was hit with a blunt object.  In 2009, an elderly British couple was also murdered and dumped in the same place.
