Secession debate reckless, Kaparo cautions

Kaparo on Friday said those advocating for secession are serving their selfish interests of taking over power from the back door/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 25 – The Chairman of the Nation Cohesion and Integration Commission Francis ole Kaparo says that the secession debate kicked off by Opposition coalition NASA is reckless and only aimed at dividing the country along ethnic lines.

Kaparo on Friday said those advocating for secession are serving their selfish interests of taking over power from the back door.

“The commission thinks that this whole debate on secession has the capacity to destabilise our social fabric it is not good for the stability of our country if anybody who loses an election dismembers Kenya then what are we left with I think its reckless,” Kaparo cautioned.

Economist David Ndii, who is one of the advisors to NASA leader Raila Odinga has been in the forefront with the debate dismissed by many as effects of losing the recent presidential election.

Kaparo has urged Kenyans to maintain peace as they await the court’s verdict and to go on with their daily activities even after the ruling is made.
