NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 3 – A post-mortem on the body of Maryanne Wairimu Ngumbu, the lady found with IEBC Information Communication Technology Manager Chris Msando has revealed that she died as a result of ligature strangulation.

A preliminary report by Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor showed that a rope was used to strangle her.

Wairimu spent her last moments with Msando on a fateful night before their bodies were found dumped in a forest in Kikuyu on Saturday morning.

Msando was tortured before he was strangled to death.

His back had deep scratches, indicating the body was either dragged on a rough surface or scratched. His right hand had deep cuts giving an indication of severe torture using a very sharp object.

Wairimu’s family says they would transfer her body to Kihara Mortuary ahead of her burial on a date yet to be announced.

On Thursday, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said police were pursuing four persons of interest over the murders.

Boinnet revealed that six people had already recorded statements with detectives over the murder of Msando and Wairimu.

“There are four persons of interest who we are looking for. We would like to appeal to Kenyans to allow the families to mourn and the security agencies to investigate this matter and to once again also reiterate the fact that we are determined to the murders and bring them to justice,” he stated.
