NAIROBI, Kenya Jul 28 – The most popular presidential candidate in Nairobi County is Raila Odinga with a 56 per cent popularity rating followed by Uhuru Kenyatta with 40 per cent, Abduba Dida with 0.5 per cent, Joe Nyagah 0.5 per cent, Michael Wainaina and Ekuru Aukot tie at 0.1 per cent.

That is according to another opinion poll conducted by Infotrak Research Company which was released by the Company’s Senior Research Executive Mary Mburu.

“If elections were held today in Nairobi 56 per cent would vote for Raila Odinga and 40 per cent for Uhuru Kenyatta with 2.8 per cent still undecided on who to vote for,” Mburu said.

This contradicts another poll that was released Sunday by IPSOS Research Company which indicated that President Kenyatta was leading with 47 per cent followed by Odinga with 42 per cent.

On May 18, a similar poll commissioned by Radio Africa Group placed Odinga at 40 per cent and Kenyatta at 49 per cent.

According to the research, the entrance of Mudavadi and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto in the coalition has highly contributed to his popularity.

The poll was conducted between July 15 and 22 which was through face-to-face interviews through Computer Assisted Interviews (CAPI) where 1,500 respondents were interviewed to represent Nairobi County registered voters with an error of 2.5 and 95 per cent confidence.

The NASA Coalition was also found to be the most popular in Nairobi with 54 per cent followed by Jubilee with 38 per cent.

According to Mburu, most people are aligning themselves more with personality than with the party and said that trend has been witnessed in most of the researched counties.
