4 policemen in Sh2mn robbery due in court Monday

The officers are accused of attacking a Chinese national in Limuru as he was driving from Nairobi to Bomet where he runs a gambling business/FILE

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 24 – Four police officers arrested on Sunday over a Sh2 million robbery on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway are on Monday set to appear in court.

The officers are accused of attacking a Chinese national in Limuru as he was driving from Nairobi to Bomet where he runs a gambling business.

His driver is also in custody after preliminary investigations linked him to the robbery.

The Chinese national reported the incident at Limuru Police Station after the four waylaid him on the highway, stole the money and sped off using a waiting vehicle.

The four are attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations within their respective working stations.

One of the officers posted in Chepalungu Police Division within Bomet County was found with a Sh100,000, a pair of handcuffs and the vehicle used in the robbery.

Another officer, a woman, was arrested while at her Shauri Moyo residence with Sh95,000.
