MACHAKOS, Kenya, Jun 20 – Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has decried the increasing vandalism cases targeting county projects.

Mutua said the vandalism was politically motivated and targeted water, lighting, roads and security projects.

“The hired goons have vandalised water projects in parts of Kangundo and we will not let them go scot free,” warned Mutua.

Last week, solar panels at the Kithumuoni water project in Kangundo were vandalised disrupting water supply to over 500 households.

He said unknown persons had vandalised CCTV cameras in parts of Mwala sub-County.

Mutua, who was speaking in his office where he met members of the business community from Katangi ward, urged his opponents to engage in mature campaigns.

He again hit out at his main opponent for the gubernatorial seat Wavinya Ndeti accusing her of allegedly engaging in a smear campaign against him.

“I have information that she is on a mission to taint my image and the projects I have initiated. She will fail miserably,” said Mutua.

He urged the electorate to give him a second term adding his commitment was to offer transformative leadership.
