NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 18 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged to return to Kisumu in May on a vote-hunting mission after today’s visit in which he attended the National Drama Festivals.
His arrival at the lakeside city Tuesday was marked with pomp and colour, as locals lined up along the road from the Kisumu International Airport all the way to the city centre, amid tight security.
President Kenyatta thanked the people of Kisumu for giving him a heroic welcome and hosting the children who participated in the drama festivals since last week.
A large crowd gathering along Oginga Odinga Street slowed down the President’s convoy and he opted to address the public before being driven to State Lodge to attend Kenya Music Festival gala.
Addressing the crowd, President Kenyatta thanked the people of Kisumu for giving him a heroic welcome and hosting the children of Kenya who converged in Kisumu for the music festival.
He explained that he came specifically for the music festival but promised to return to hunt for votes in the region as the country heads to the polls.

President Kenyatta says elections should not divide Kenyans noting that it is a one day event that should not bring enmity among Kenyans.
He urged the youth to shun politicians luring them into violence during this electioneering period.
