The incident comes weeks after the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet was handed a report detailing the cause of similar cases.
The report which was not been made public identified low morale over poor pay and stress among the leading causes of officers taking their own lives.
Statistics available at Police Headquarters show that at least one suicide case involving a police officer is reported every month on average.
