NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20 — Jubilee party primaries in Nairobi will now be held on Monday in consideration of the Muslim community who attend prayers on Friday.

Announcing the change, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju said the decision to push the county’s primaries forward was taken by the National Executive Committee in consultation with the National Elections Board in response to what he described as “major representations” from the Muslim community.

There is however no indication of a change in Kiambu, Meru, Kirinyaga or any of the other 17 other counties where primaries are scheduled for Friday.

On Wednesday, the National Elections Board Chairman Andrew Musangi announced that the primaries would be held on Friday and Tuesday and now Monday.
