Chege Fresh found alive, police to establish whether he faked kidnap

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 16 – The Kabete parliamentary aspirant who has been missing since Friday night has been found alive in Narok.

Charles Chege, of the Jubilee Party, who is popularly known as Chege Fresh was found in Narok town in a drowsy state on Sunday morning.

According to police, his wife reported having been telephoned by an unknown person who informed her that the man was in Narok.

There were protests in Kabete Saturday morning when his bullet-riddled car was found in King’eero fueling speculations that he may have been killed.

A senior police officer has told Capital News that investigations on circumstances that led to the disappearance are underway, and he may be charged if found to have stage-managed it for political reasons.

“We want to establish whether he did this just to get sympathy from his constituents or whether he was indeed kidnapped,” he said.

There were protests from his supporters who demanded to know of his whereabouts.

At the scene where his vehicle was found dumped, Police recovered his phones and other personal items he had before taking the vehicle to King’eero Police station.

The aspirant went missing on Friday night at around 12pm after he dropped his driver in Kikuyu town ahead of Saturday’s launch of his manifesto.

Chege was to launch his manifesto at Kanjeru stadium in Gitaru area.
