NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 28 – Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has been released on a Sh100,000 cash bail after successfully arguing in the High Court that an order that she be detained by police for five nights, was punitive.

The High Court delivered the amended terms Friday afternoon after hearing the appeal she lodged earlier.

The Chief Magistrate’s court on Thursday directed that Bishop Wanjiru remain in police custody until the Jubilee Party primaries are concluded.

She was charged with the offence of causing malicious damage to property at a Jubilee Party polling station at the City Market when the party held its primaries on Wednesday.
