15-yr-old born of Kenyan parents blows Britain away with powerful voice

Ikumu’s performance was so impressive, the infamous Simon Cowell handed her a golden ticket to the live shows/CFM

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 18 – A week before Sarah Ikumu became a British pop sensation in waiting, the then little known 15-year-old was in Limuru, a guest at Melissa and Robin Maina’s wedding – her family friends – where she gifted them a performance.

Only then, she was introduced as Sarah Njoki before proceeding to belt out a love song that blew away any expectations of, “don’t mind the voice, focus on the message.”

A week later, on April 15, a video of her auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent was posted on Youtube and has had garnered upwards of 1.4 million views since.
