Back by public demand, survey shows Raila would carry NASA flag

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 11 – Orange Democratic Movement Leader Raila Odinga is the most popular National Super Alliance Presidential candidate at 68.3 per cent according to the latest survey by Infotrak Research and Consulting firm.

He is followed by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka at a distant 13.1 per cent, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi follows closely at 12.3 per cent while Senator Moses Wetangula trails the list by a meager 2.2 per cent.

According to the statistics released by infotrak Chief Executive Officer Angella Ambitho, 52 per cent of NASA supporters want Odinga because of his experience and track record while a majority of those who support Musyoka at 28 per cent attribute it to his peaceful nature.

The Wiper leader however has a 23.4 per cent following among the NASA coalition supporters who believe he has the experience and a track record to face off President Uhuru Kenyatta during August polls.

“Majority of NASA leaders want an experienced leader as flag bearer,” Ambitho pointed out.

The survey which saw 1,500 respondents interviewed across the country also saw most Jubilee supporters, at 27.3 per cent recommend Mudavadi to be the flag bearer of the opposition followed by Odinga at 26.5 per cent and Musyoka at 24.6 per cent.

President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party is the most popular in the country at 36.4 per cent according to the new survey.

Orange Democratic Movement comes second at 22 per cent followed by Wiper Democratic Movement at a distant 3.4 per cent.

The Jubilee Party and ODM enjoy massive support from areas where their main leaders come from.

Within the Central region, Jubilee has a 71 per cent backing, 49 per cent support in Rift Valley while ODM leads in Nyanza at 60.3 per cent.
