Kenya’s Opposition to sign, unveil coalition agreement

, NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 22 – The National Super Alliance leaders will Wednesday morning sign a power-sharing agreement that will see them forge a common front ahead of the August General Election.

The deal to be signed at the Okoa Kenya Secretariat office is expected to spell out the formula for sharing top seats in case of victory.

NASA’s co-principals are ODM’s Raila Odinga, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi who heads the Amani National Congress.

Following the signing of the agreement by the four principals, it will be deposited with the Registrar of Political Parties and they will later address a political rally at Jevanjee Gardens.

During the rally, they will reveal the contents of the document to their supporters and detail their political plans.

A 12-member team had been formed to officially register the National Super Alliance and name its presidential candidate.

The team led by Siaya Senator James Orengo was also expected to work on the coalition’s legal instruments.

Leaders in the technical committee include Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, his Kakamega counterpart Boni Khalwale and Agnes Zani.

Others are Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Former National Assembly deputy speaker Farah Maalim and Ford Kenya secretary general Eseli Simiyu.
