KISUMU, Kenya, Feb 10 – Fishermen in Lake Victoria have stumbled upon more than 800 live ammunitions while on a fishing expedition in Litare Beach Rusinga, Mbita constituency.

The fishermen had cast their nets for small fish ‘omena’ but pulled out an old rusty box.

Mbita Police Chief Wilson Nanga who confirmed the incident said that the fishermen notified the police immediately.

Nanga said they have kept the ammunition in their custody for further direction.

He said the ammunition can be used and thanked the fishermen for bringing the matter to the attention of the police.

Litare Beach Management Unit boss Wilson Nyajwaya said the four fishermen who found the bullets thought they had captured a huge fish.
