KITUI, Kenya, Nov 17 – Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said he will not be intimidated by impeachment threats from a section of Members of the County Assembly whom he accused of being agents of higher political forces.

Mutua singled out the Wiper Party as being part of the scheme to bring down the Machakos County Government.

Speaking in Kiusyani, Kitui Central constituency during his fourth day in Kitui County where he has camped to popularise his Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, Mutua claimed he has information that money had allegedly been offered to the assembly members to impeach him.

“I can speak with authority that the Wiper party has paid Sh10 million to Machakos Members of County Assembly to impeach me,” said Mutua.

He said he has been waiting for the impeachment motion after he was notified by some of the MCAs that they had received funds to bring him down.

Mutua added that the MCAs had tried to push him to give them Sh5 million for their re-election but he declined.

He said those keen sponsoring the motion over frivolous grounds wanted to “steal from struggling people.”

“Wiper needs to be told that they will fail because their politics of poverty has no place in modern Kenya,” said Mutua.

He added that his commitment was to offer transformative leadership.

Mutua said his development track record was visible in key sectors adding that the projects had improved the lives of residents.
