“The system has integrity because the question one could ask themselves is that can someone forge their registration, impersonating them and submit a drawing pretending to be them. The answer is no because there are unique identification codes,” he outlined.
He further pointed out that it will reduce the time used in processing building plans thereby improving service delivery.
“The set up cost is Sh35 million. It is enhanced, it is much faster, the scope is much bigger, you will be able to follow up on it,” he stated. “Electronic development permitting is a set of computer based tools and services that automate and streamline the development permit processes. It replaces traditional paper and file card systems.”
The launch came even as tenants of a five-storey building in Ruaka, Kiambu were asked to immediately vacate after the building started showing signs of sinking.
Residents said they had noticed cracks on the walls and realised the pillars on the ground floor were starting to bend.
The National Construction Authority asked residents to leave the premises to give room for proper inspection of the building.
Earlier this month a 10 storey building collapsed in Kisii town as it was undergoing construction.
Eight people died, while 44 others were admitted for treatment at the Kisii Referral Hospital.
