NEW YORK, United States, Nov 9- It was neck to neck for Democrat Hillary Clinton and Democract Donald Trump who are battling it out to take over from President Barack Obama in a historic election.
As at 7:15am, Clinton had 197 electoral votes ahead of Trump’s 187 of the 270 required to be declared winner.
Trump had been ahead before Clinton quickly overtook him.
Clinton — the Democratic former first lady, senator and secretary of state — began the day as the narrow favorite to win the White House and become America’s first female president.
