NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 4 – Motorists are being urged to avoid Ngong Road due to the expected traffic snarl up as a result of the 14th edition of the Nairobi International Trade Fair that is ongoing.

Nairobi Traffic Commandant Leonard Katana has told Capital FM News that the event coupled with the road construction currently underway may inconvenience motorists.

“We expect huge traffic along Ngong Road due to the ongoing Nairobi Show. Again we know that construction of the road is currently ongoing with contractors on site,” he cautioned.

He encouraged motorists to use alternative routes to reach their destinations.

“We urge motorists to avoid using Ngong road as much as possible to avoid being inconvenienced. They can use alternative routes like Argwings Kodhek and even the bypass to get to their destinations,” he said.

Security has been beefed up at Jamhuri Park, the venue of the fair set to conclude this coming Sunday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to officially open the show on Friday.
