NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 13 – The National Police Service Commission has promoted 200 officers to the rank of Commissioner of Police in the latest changes in command.

Notably, Kenya Police spokesperson Charles Owino is among the officers who have been moved from the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police to Commissioner of Police.

The officers were picked from all units in the National Police Service, with 83 officers picked from the Kenya Police, 83 from Administration Police and 46 from Criminal Investigations Department.

The officers include Mary Omari, Rosemary Kuraru, Bernard Nyakwaka, Tom Odera, Richard Kerich, Patrick Tito, James Tito, Shem Nyamboki, Samuel Mukinda, Wilfred Marwa, Peter Kilonzo, John Murage and Naomi Ichami among others.

The earlier promotions were marred by confusion after Police headquarters released a new list that omitted some names including that of Owino from that of the National Police Service Commission.
