NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 13- The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on Thursday seized two Range Rovers at the port of Mombasa valued at over Sh24 million in the latest syndicate on tax evasion.

The two vehicles had been hidden in a 40 foot container imported from United Kingdom and was destined for Uganda.

The two fuel guzzlers had not been declared in attempt to evade taxes worth over Sh15 million.

The container was also loaded with two other unit of vehicles Peugeot and Toyota corolla in attempt to conceal the Range Rovers.

KRA Regional Manager Nicholas Kinoti, said the container were declared to contain 600 bicycles ,200 bales of clothes and ten tables of six engines.

He said that they are pursuing a Uganda national Andrew Kagambo, who is declared in the manifesto as the importer of the container.

Addressing the media at the port of Mombasa Kinoti said they are working with Interpol and other nations in conducting investigations.

The container No MSKU 1849826BL 957361627 arrived at the port of Mombasa on September 5.

“We are conducting investigation involving different agencies with the aim of apprehending individuals behind the smuggling of containers. This well coordinate cartels that requires collaboration among nations,” he said.

The UK government is also working closely with the Kenya authorities to stop the cartels.
